Quick Fixes for Common Hiccups

App is slow or acting strange

This is almost always fixed with a quick restart.

  • Close the app completely
  • Wait 10 seconds
  • Reopen Prosper Honey
  • Still slow? Restart your computer

Can't log in — wrong password

Password issues are quick to sort out.

  • Check that Caps Lock is off
  • Passwords are case-sensitive
  • Ask your admin to reset your password in Admin Settings → Users
  • Default admin password: PowerBreak321!

Can't find my backup file

Backups always save — just maybe not where you expect.

  • USB drive plugged in? Check the ProsperHoneyCMS_Backups folder on it
  • No USB? Press Win+R and run: %APPDATA%\ProsperHoneyCMS\backups
  • Backup files are named: church_backup_YYYY-MM-DD_HH-MM-SS.db

License has expired

Don't worry — your data is safe. You just need to activate a key.

  • Log in as administrator
  • Go to Admin Settings → Subscription
  • Enter your license key and click Activate Key

Email isn't sending

Usually a settings issue, not an app issue.

  • Go to Admin Settings → SMTP Settings
  • Click Test Connection — it'll show any error
  • Gmail users: use an App Password, not your regular password
  • Check your internet connection is active

A module is missing from my sidebar

This is a permissions setting — easy to fix.

  • Ask your administrator to check your account
  • Admin goes to Admin Settings → Users → Edit your account
  • Set the missing module to Read or Write
  • Log out and back in to see the change

Moving to a new computer

Your data travels with you — here's how.

  • On old PC: go to Backup and click Back Up Now (USB plugged in)
  • Install Prosper Honey on the new PC
  • Activate your license key on the new PC
  • Go to Backup → Restore and select your backup file
  • Restart the app after restoring

Data looks wrong after a restore

One simple step usually fixes this completely.

  • After any restore, close the app completely
  • Reopen it — data will reload fresh
  • If still wrong, try restoring an older backup file
  • Contact us if the problem persists

App won't open at all

Rare, but fixable.

  • Right-click the desktop icon and choose Run as Administrator
  • Check Windows Defender isn't blocking the app
  • Try uninstalling and reinstalling
  • Email us with a screenshot of any error message

Yes — completely! Prosper Honey is a desktop app that stores all your data locally on your computer. The only time an internet connection is needed is when you use the Email feature to send messages to congregation members. Everything else — members, giving, expenses, reports, calendar — works 100% offline.

Prosper Honey runs on a single Windows PC at a time — it's not a web-based or networked app. However, you can create multiple user accounts so each staff member has their own login with their own username, password, and permission level. They just take turns using the computer, or you install it on each person's PC and sync data via the backup/restore system.

Nothing is deleted — ever. Your church data sits safely on your computer regardless of subscription status. If the app license expires, you simply won't be able to open the app until you enter a valid license key. All your records are untouched and waiting for you. Contact us at support@sevlotechnologies.com to get a renewal key.

A Lifetime License ($499) is a one-time purchase — you own the app forever with no recurring fees. It includes 1 year of support and updates. After that year, the app keeps working; you can optionally renew support for $49/year to receive updates and priority help.

A subscription ($99/yr, $249/3yr, or $349/5yr) bundles the app with support and updates for the full term. It's great if you prefer spreading the cost out over time or want to ensure you always have the latest version.

Prosper Honey backs up automatically every time you close the app:
  • If a USB drive is plugged in, it saves to ProsperHoneyCMS_Backups on the drive.
  • If no USB is connected, it saves locally to %APPDATA%\ProsperHoneyCMS\backups\ on your computer.
You can also run a manual backup anytime from the 💾 Backup page. We recommend plugging in a USB thumb drive every time you use the app so you always have an off-computer copy.

Yes! The 📊 Reports module lets you generate any financial summary — giving by date range, expense breakdown, income vs. expenses, monthly overview, and more — and save it as a PDF. You can then open that PDF in any viewer (Windows has one built in) and print it normally. Great for board meetings, annual reviews, and member giving statements.

Go to ⚙️ Admin Settings → SMTP Settings and enter your email server details:
  • Gmail: Host smtp.gmail.com, Port 587, TLS on. Use a Gmail App Password (not your regular password) — create one at myaccount.google.com → Security → App Passwords.
  • Outlook / Microsoft 365: Host smtp.office365.com, Port 587.
After saving, click Test Connection to confirm everything works before sending to your congregation.

Absolutely. When creating or editing a user account in Admin Settings → Users, set their role to Basic (or use the "Basic (all read-only)" quick preset). A Basic user can view all records but cannot add, edit, or delete anything. You can also fine-tune individual module permissions — for example, give someone write access to Members but only read access to Giving.

Yes. All data is stored in a local database on your computer only — it never goes to the cloud or any external server. User passwords are protected with industry-standard PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 hashing (the same method banks use), so no one — including Sevlo Technologies — can ever read your passwords. Physical security of your PC and USB drive is the most important thing to protect.

An active support plan includes:
  • Priority email support from the Sevlo Technologies team (avg. 1 business day response)
  • All app updates and bug fixes
  • Access to new features as they are added
  • Direct assistance with setup, configuration, and data questions
Without an active support plan, your app continues to work perfectly — you just won't receive updates or priority support. Support plans are $49/year and can be renewed at any time.

The default administrator credentials set during installation are:

Username: admin
Password: PowerBreak321!
